LitQuotes Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2nd April 2026
1. About This Policy
LitQuotes ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website (litquotes.io) and the LitQuotes app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights.
For questions, contact us at: support@litquotes.io
2. Who We Are
LitQuotes provides an app to help GCSE English Literature students memorise quotes for exams. Our website is located at https://litquotes.io.
3. Data We Collect
On the app:
Anonymous device identifiers (e.g. for purchase management)
Purchase and subscription status via Apple's in-app purchase system
Optional analytics data — with your consent, we use PostHog to collect anonymous usage data (such as which features are used and how the app is navigated). This helps us improve the app. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics. You can opt out at any time in the app settings.
On the website:
Cookie and analytics data (see Section 7 below)
Any information you voluntarily submit by contacting us via email
We do not collect your name, email address, or payment details through the app. Payments are processed entirely by Apple.
4. Why We Process Your Data (Legal Basis)
We process data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:
Legitimate interests — to operate and improve our service
Contract performance — to fulfil purchases or subscriptions you have made
Legal obligation — where required by law
Consent — for optional analytics data collected via PostHog (you may withdraw this at any time)
5. Third-Party Services
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat may receive anonymous identifiers and purchase data necessary to verify subscription status. We do not share personally identifiable information with RevenueCat. You can review RevenueCat's privacy policy at: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
We also use PostHog to collect optional, anonymous product analytics — only if you consent to analytics when prompted. PostHog acts as a data processor on our behalf. Data is processed on PostHog Cloud EU servers hosted in Frankfurt, Germany, meaning it does not leave the EU/UK jurisdiction. PostHog does not receive your name, email, or payment information. You can review PostHog's privacy policy at: https://posthog.com/privacy
6. Children's Privacy
LitQuotes is designed for use by GCSE students, which includes users aged 14 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide our service, and we do not use personal data for profiling, behavioural advertising, or any purpose detrimental to children's interests. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@litquotes.io and we will delete it promptly.
7. Cookies and Website Analytics
Our website uses cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are placed automatically as they are required for the site to function. Optional cookies (such as analytics) will only be placed with your consent. You can manage or withdraw your cookie preferences at any time. For full details, please see our Privacy Policy.
8. Data Retention
We retain data only for as long as necessary to provide our service or as required by law. Anonymous identifiers linked to purchase status are retained for the duration of your subscription and a reasonable period thereafter for support purposes. Anonymous analytics data processed via PostHog is retained for up to 24 months, in line with PostHog's standard retention policy, after which it is automatically deleted.
9. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Object to or restrict our processing of your data
Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at https://ico.org.uk
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@litquotes.io.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. Continued use of the app or website following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
